 Sector 2 Rapid Response Team

Our area on the Forums.

Overview

The Rapid Response Team of Sector 2 works through Lane County Search And Rescue, Explorer Post #178. a division of the Lane County Sheriff's Office.  It's purpose is to put members and officers of Sector 2 in Post 178 to help boost it's numbers, and to recieve comprehensive Search And Rescue training that is then used when the Team is deployed for disaster relief efforts.  The Rapid Response Team of Sector 2 participates in all meatings and trainings of Post 178.  It is a lot of fun but very intense, they handle many situations, and team members must be fairly mentally and physically fit.  The rewards are many though.  It gives us an opportunity to serve the community of Lane County, and to literally save lives.  We also do evidence searches with the police, which helps solve crimes.  It really is a wonderful, albeit intense, ministry for Sector 2.  On top of it all we receive the training we need so that we can provide support or Search And Rescue efforts in a post disaster scenario.

Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursdays of every month (except when noted).  Meetings are held at the Sheriff's office in downtown Eugene Oregon.  RRT members usually meet at Sector 2 HQ and carpool to and from the meetings from there.  Once a month there is an Outing which usually is Saturday and sunday of one weekend.  Outings leave from the Lane County Shops at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning.  RRT members usually meet at 7:00 AM at the Sector 2 HQ and carpool to the Shops.

Outings and Trainings are a LOT of fun, but they are also a intense workout.  They are usually pretty balanced between hard work and fun.  On some occasions though we get rewarded, like the time we got to train with/ride on the Sherriff's chopper.  I definetly reccommend joining the RRT if you are a Christian of "tougher" construction, enjoy the outdoors, and enjoy adventure.

 History

The Rapid Response Program started as part of the Jedi Training program.  The idea was to put Jedi, secretly, in Search And Rescue Teams in order for them to learn survival techniques, and give them another avenue in which to serve.

The idea worked.  So well in fact that it was decided that it could possibly work as a way to train disaster relief crews within the C.A.A.  The new mission of the Rapid Response Program is to take any volunteering personnel (usually officers), not just Jedi, and put them in local Search And Rescue units.  Later the program was transferred administratively to the Jurisdiction of the newly formed Special Operations.  Since they handle operations Search And Rescue for the C.A.A.  Operationally Sector 2's, like all RRTs, is jointly operated by Civilian Ops, Spec Ops, and the Jedi Order.

The Sector 2 RRT was the pilot and test team for the new Rapid Response Program.  Despite the innitially low membership numbers of personnel on the team, it was still deemed an overall success during it's test period.  This was due to the fact of how perfectly it fit the bill of what the C.A.A. was trying to accomplish with the Rapid Response Program.  The training that participating personnel recieved was then able to be turned around and shared with the greater organization, better preparing our forces for disaster relief efforts.  It also boosted the numbers of the vital local Search And Rescue crews who handle all local Search And Rescue efforts.

Sector 2 is currently looking for more members for their RRT, so if you are interested, or would like more information, feel free to Contact Us.
